Mary Harrington started working in the health and fitness field 25 years ago. She began as an aerobics teacher in 1975; she taught for 10 years and created a very popular aerobics program for seniors. In 1985 she became interested in yoga and the ways it is able to produce relaxation through movement and breathwork. She attended classes, practiced at home and saw positive effects immediately. A few years later Mary pursued her Masters degree in psychology and began a career in counseling. She used her knowledge of relaxation techniques to help her clients dealing with addictions, anxiety and stress. Ten years ago she learned about Kripalu, a center for yoga and health, in Lenox, MA. There she spent a month training to become a Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor. Since then she has offered yoga classes at her home in Setauket, New York. Mary makes a trip to Kripalu once or twice a year to gain a better understanding of yoga's benefits and acquire more advanced teacher training instruction. |
